The mission of the readership program is to promote civic engagement, global awareness, and media literacy on campus, by exposing students to the news in their living, learning and community spaces. ASMSU is launching this initiative to broaden students’ awareness of current issues through newspaper readership and to help students become more informed and engaged citizens.

USA TODAY, New York Times, and Detroit Free Press will be available every weekday at the following locations:

-Cata Bus Station
-Bessey Hall
-Business College
-Communication Arts and Sciences
-Engineering
-Wells Hall

The Collegiate Readership Program, managed by USA TODAY, was developed in 1997 at The Pennsylvania State University, and has since expanded to over 500 campuses across the country. The program is complemented by the USA TODAY Academic website, www.usatodaycollege.com, which includes resources for students and faculty, the Voices initiative, and best practices for curricular and co-curricular use. Other participating Big Ten institutions include: Indiana University, Northwestern University, The Ohio State University, The Pennsylvania State University, University of Illinois and University of Iowa.

Town Hall Meeting - Shaping the Future and Shipping Us Out

Thursday, March 25, 2010
Time:
7:00am - 8:00am
Location:
MSU Union, Multicultural Center
Why you were sleeping they were creeping and they stole from you! The administration is moving like a thief in the night to trim the budget, and shockingly the fat in our system has come in the form of students of color. O, how the CAAP office has changed my life, don't those OCAT Aides make the transition process almost effortless, isn't the office of Cultural and Academic Transitions a pivotal resource for you - THEN NOW IS THE TIME TO SPEAK UP AND SPEAK OUT!
The final decision of whether or not these and countless other services are needed is steadily approaching; if not for you, then think of the next generation of spartans to walk upon this campus with no support system for the needs, academic interests, and social interests of students of color.

B.J. The Chicago Kid is one of the most explosive, yet mature, soulful artists/writers of our young generation. Following the love of his life, BJ married to music at a young age and has since been living his dream. BJ’s talents have assisted artists such as Mary Mary, Musiq Soulchild, Stevie Wonder, Kanye West, Usher, Mario, Mary J. Blige, and Jamie Foxx via writing and performing. The materials showcased above are essentially raw previews of a true artist with a powerful voice.

THE VAGINA MONOLOGUES 2010

For Eve, Inc. and V-Day...
TICKETS FOR MSU'S ANNUAL PRODUCTION OF THE VAGINA MONOLOGUES ARE ON SALE NOW!!!

"The Vagina Monologues" is a series of monologues based on Eve Ensler's interviews with women on relationships, sex, violence against women and the perception of vaginas. MSU joins an international effort, through V-Day: Until the Violence Stops, to end violence against women and girls.

90% of proceeds from the show go to benefit Eve, Inc., a Lansing area women's shelter that provides support, guidance, and supplies to women and children in need. The remaining 10% of proceeds will benefit V-Days efforts to help the women and girls of the Democratic Republic of Congo where over the last 10 years more than 300,000 Congolese women and girls have been raped, tortured and destroyed.
